You may be looking for Craybeast.

Craymen are human-like creatures that have large lobster-like pincers instead of hands, that can be used as Sword, and are able to breathe underwater. They are usually encountered in caves, ruins and wet areas, avoiding areas populated by living humans. Despite their similar nature to other creatures found in The Maw of Chaos they do not have any explicit affiliation with The Trickster or the Pagans.

Appearance[]

Crayman Haunted

A Crayman living in caves and basements under the barricaded section.

Craymen resemble something like humanoid crayfish. They have a speckled, khaki-toned, segmented and articulated chitinous exoskeleton and have large red eyes at the ends of thick fluted stalks give their heads a hammerhead shape. Although they do not appear capable of human speech or writing, they do emit a series of chirps and clicking sounds, which may be a form of communication.

Strategy[]

Craymen are fairly fast and aggressive creatures that attack by using their massive lobster-like pincers as swords. They are surprisingly good at hand-to-hand combat and can frequently block sword attacks. Their health is also rather high, making them dangerous opponents, especially in groups. Their slow turning speed can be used against them in direct combat in an anti-Burrick fashion.

Crayman can be stopped in the following ways:

  • Broadhead Arrow – can be killed with a single stealth shot
  • Backstab – can be killed with a single swing
  • Fire Arrow – it takes two arrows to kill it
  • Gas Arrow or Gas Mine – if discovered it could be more effective and less dangerous to simply put the creatures out
  • Blackjack – blackjacking a crayman might alert nearby entities

Craymen encounters are quite rare, making them a less serious threat, but keeping distance and sneaking around them still remains the best approach.

Note[]

  • Craymens are heavier than humans, and cannot be moved when they are unconscious out or dead.
