The non-slip mat is a Mechanist innovation developed by Friend Manus in response to the unfortunate accident of Friend Ventus. First introduced in the aquatic caverns beneath Markham's Isle for the safety of divers and members of the Cetus Amicus crew. The special fibres are "full soft as carpet yet also completely water resistant"[1]. They prevent slipping even when wet and are commonly employed near dive holes and habitually damp locations of traffic. The wet mat is evidently abrasive enough to stably support a wet mechanist diver in full gear and thick boots.
These mats can be found both in the Subaquatic Station and in the Cetus Amicus itself.
