Gallery?[]

Should we try to make this a gallery, perhaps, like User:NitocrisDivinora mentioned? Hang on, let me check how that gallery wiki thing is supposed to work... oh, it's just a <gallery> tag. Let's try it:

My, my. Even better than I hoped for. Check it out with captions:

Other maps[]

I'm thinking the funny map might go here. And perhaps the map for the T2 Demo "The Unwelcome Guest"? What do you think? Larris 06:38, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm okay with that, except maybe for the part that they aren't "in-game". Clear labels should be enough if starting another page is too much, and what about the Talisman MapScrap? Ehcmier 06:47, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
Well... I don't really know where the funny bank map is from, so I won't say anything about that, but according to one wide definition of "in-game", the demo map would belong here. It could always be labeled UNUSED or somesuch. Or maybe we could start using the abbreviation T2D? =)
It won't hurt to include the Talisman map(s) - after all, if there's something that's in-game, it's the table. Even the overlay edition can go under "other maps" IMO. I don't think it's likely to confuse one single reader. =)
--Larris 09:44, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Hahaha! Experience tells me otherwise, and I expect more than a single reader to show confusion on some level per every single thing. I wish it weren't so, but that fact alone has kept me busy for the the last couple of years. :D Ehcmier 11:01, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
The funny bank map and map scrap are there already because they were in the mission folder. Is the T2 Demo map any different from the normal Dayport map? If so the name would be something like "T2D_M#_map_page###.jpg". The other maps are linked here if you want to add them to the OTHER section. Sxerks 21:01, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
The demo map is way different, IIRC. T2D_M# would be a consistent naming convention. Larris 12:35, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'll change the convention. Yeah, the maps are different, texts of the same filename are different, or tweaked, the conversations are different and it includes those two others, the briefing is different, the characters and threat, etc. So it should be treated as any other Thief game, especially since so many taffers actually prefer it over Life of the Party. Am I the only one who has the files on my hard drive right now? I'll show a side by side comparison of things, before it's uploaded officially. Maybe the articles should have a section to describe the differences, since this is a full mission, not nearly as truncated as the other demos. Ehcmier 21:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
Actually, hold on...the M# part doesn't quite work, because it's the only mission. It's made from the Mission 11 files, but it's not the eleventh mission as far as the game is concerned. So do you want me to go with "11" or "1" or something else? Ehcmier 02:17, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
Is there a ".mis" file when installed? or a "miss##" folder in the interface.crf? I used those numbers for the maps I uploaded, not the "ordered number"--Sxerks 02:47, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, it's the miss11 Alpha that became the miss11 official release, so most of the files follow that convention, including folder names. The briefing is B11.avi even though it's almost completely different. If the naming convention is to adhere to the filenames, then "11" is correct. I've typed out and transcribed the two demo-specific conversations and the briefing texts, and will be uploading the map images when I hav no doubt what to name them. There are the books, and one shares the same filename as the official mission, but is completely different, and another has been tweaked. Ehcmier 03:53, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
"T2D_M#_map_page###.jpg", so T2D_M11_map_PAGE000.jpg,T2D_M11_map_PAGE001.jpg or whatever they are in the interface/english folder--Sxerks 04:21, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Okey doke. :) Of course...I didn't capitalize the original filenames at the end of the image upload filename. :o Ehcmier 04:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier

Dang, I guess I'll stitch the demo maps together like the OM's, with that naming convention. Ehcmier 04:44, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier

  • T2 M11 map PAGE005T2D M11 map page003

Just for fun, I superimposed the two sets of maps, and colourised each layer as opposing monochromatic hues, to highlight their differences:

TDS Maps[]

Why are the labels missing from all of these? Are they superimposed onto the map images during gameplay, or are these different versions of the in-game maps? Fish Preferred 17:29, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

They are straight from the game files, so I think that info you see in-game is added(including different languages).--Sxerks 18:38, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
Is there a map of Fort Ironwood? Fish Preferred 03:12, December 23, 2010 (UTC)
no, it's just a building on the Old Quarter map.--Sxerks 18:47, December 23, 2010 (UTC)
