Is there someplace where this is labeled as a district, if not, it is only a location.--Sxerks (talk) 14:40, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

I do not recall any such label. I would regard it as a district because its name is incorporated into the local buildings, but whatever. Fish Preferred (talk) 16:05, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

Technically a number of locations are not necessarily labeled as districts. Eastport comes to mind. Yes warden was in charge of it but it's never specifically called a district. Shalebridge is mentioned in multiple places but no one calls it the Shalebridge district' iirc. Downtowne, High Towne, New Quarter, North Quarter, New Market, etc, are not necessarily referred to as districts. Honestly I think the use of the term district is rarely used on maps or even documents. We can however tell that there are number of businesses or organizations within these areas. Dayport is a special case in that the maps actually divide it into two districts and each is specifically called a district on the maps.
I'm not sure if Wayside has ever specifically been referred to as a district either. There might be a reference or two to Wayside Dock District however, iirc.Baggins (talk) 16:49, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

Technically in some cases what we think of as districts might actually be street names or Boroughs/sub-districts/subdivisions within a larger administrative area in The City. But all we have for any context is NPC conversations and documents.Baggins (talk) 16:59, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
It might actually be Thief 3 that goes about calling many of the areas from Thief 1/2 districts in manual and in-game documents specifically "districts" and yet it's an incomplete city.Baggins (talk) 17:15, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

Auldale was only a location in Sealed Section, Old Quarter in Thief 1, IIRC. A street but made a district in Deadly Shadows?Baggins (talk) 17:24, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

I did a search on this wiki and discovered that 'district' as a term is used all but three or four times in Thief 1 and 2. This includes the maps for Dayport which introduces Dayport North District, and Dayport South District. Two documents in Shipping and Receiving, introduces Wayside Dock District. And an unused letter in Lord Bafford's Manor that speaks of the 'northern districts'.
It's Thief: Deadly Shadows that tends to use 'district' far more often and specifically in the manual, newspapers, briefings etc.
This is assuming that this wiki has all the script material from the three games, and that the search function was working correctly.Baggins (talk) 18:37, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
