Thief Wiki

A timeline of major events in Thief. Minor events are discussed on the Storyline page.

Ancient History[]

Events which happened in the distance past of the Thief world, the exact order of some of these isn't known but some are known in relation to others, or in a logical order.

  • At an unknown period of time, The Trickster leads man and beast in the ways of nature and chaos.

[1][2]

The Hag[]

  • The Hag begins to collect glyph powers, The Ancient Keepers create the Sentient safeguards.[5]

Note: The writings claim that the Keepers, besides building the safeguards, also created the Sentients as well. This would imply they would have done so before the Trickster bequeathed The Crown to King Grulias.

Destruction of the Kurshok Civilization; The Great Fall[]

  • The Trickster casts out the once revered Kurshok after gifting their King, Grulias The Great, the Crown only to have the king later claim he was greater than the Trickster himself after receiving it.[6][7] They have not seen the surface since then. Since this time, eventually, most people cease to believe the Civilization ever even existed at all. The Civilization hangs on for a while until after the Rule of Merdiac, where the 'chaos times' begin.[8]

Fall of The Trickster[]

  • At some point, the Builder and the Trickster clash, resulting in the Trickster defeated and banished, but not destroyed.[9]

Precursors[]

Destruction of Precursor civilization; The Extinction/Cataclysm[]

  • Karath-din is swallowed up by the earth.[13] Cause is unknown, perhaps possibly as the result of divine punishment, as Karras claims The Master Builder cast them down for not bringing The Builder's Paradise to the world.[14]
